Detention

Detention is the practice of holding people while they either wait for permission to enter the UK with approved immigration claims, or are removed from the country by deportation. The most common grounds for the Home Office to proceed with detention are as follows,

  • The individual is most likely to be an absconder;
  • The individual’s identity is yet to be established;
  • The person’s removal from the UK through deportation is imminent
